how to place an order

What is a pressing and what is the timing?





A Pressing is essentially a studio time period where a series of Tiles get hand pressed in my custom carved plaster molds that I've created.

This takes quite a bit of time, as they dry slowly to the point of a hard cheese like consistency, before the molds release, and they can be set aside to dry.

The drying happens slowly, between three and four weeks.

The tiles are then sanded, loaded into my large oval kiln, and bisque fired very slowly.

There are two glazing sessions, as the tiles are glaze fired twice.

All in all, the tiles, depending upon the size of the order, take about six to ten weeks. Larger orders take a bit longer.



Shipping information and insurance





SHIPPING: all orders are shipped with Canada Post -USPS.


INSURANCE:

Please note: Within Canada/domestically, and from Canada/Internationally--no courier offers any insurance on anything glass or ceramic, for damage or loss.

So placing an order assumes confirmation that the client accepts this. I pack as well as possible for this reason, and packages become large with all the cushioning. All packages have tracking from the courier.


Shipping amounts are determined as the items are being packed: they vary from shipment to shipment with dimensional weight and destination. On all orders packaging, handling and fees related to payment will apply. This means each order there is a charge for packaging materials.


**All packages must be inspected within 48 hours of delivery for damage and contact me with photographs.



Customs: Tariffs / tax





For many years, Tiles and Artwork were duty free under

NAFTA/CUSMA, but this may now change.


Please check your government policies for up to date Tariffs or customs duty on ceramic hearth tiles. There has been so much chaos, that I cannot predict what it will be from day to day.

Once it has been settled, the information will be noted here.


What is a Tariff? it is also known as Duty or a Tax essentially.

It is applied when it crosses borders, at customs and requires payment at its final destination.

It is applied by the country of final destination.


***Any duty/tariff/tax is the responsibility of the customer.

The Tiles are all hand-pressed, handmade, and have variations in edge quality, sizing due to clay shrinkage glaze colour and application, as they are also hand painting individually.


This is part of the inherent beauty of the tiles, and is the desired look and intention.
